Why did you choose to work at Sentra, and when did you join?

I joined Sentra in May after 2.5 years working at Ermetic where the focus was cloud infrastructure and cloud entitlements. In my time there I learned about the importance of enforcing least privilege and securing cloud environments. I decided to join Sentra because it appeared to me that Cloud Data Security was the next frontier, and after the meeting the team it was clear this would be a world-class organization. 

What is your role and what are your responsibilities?

I’m an Account Executive, and I lead our sales efforts for the Central and West Regions in the US. To achieve our goals, I work closely with the whole organization. I work closely with Customer Success to ensure our customers are happy and able to solve their problems, I work with Channels & Alliances to find new ways to work with resellers, MSPs, MSSPS, and Technology partners, and I work with our Inside Sales and Marketing teams to deliver more impactful messaging that resonates with the security community.

What advice do you have for people getting started in your field?

Listen with intent. In sales we often get excited when we hear customers use specific phrases and when they show the same enthusiasm that we do when talking about the product. It’s critical to our job to understand the underlying reasons why the customer is showing enthusiasm, or why they are hesitant, or why this simply isn’t an initiative they want to pursue at the moment. Being able to listen intently to what the customer is saying and understanding how that plays into their bigger picture will help you ask better questions, build trust with the customer, and maintain meaningful relationships in the industry. It’s likely you’ll be meeting them again in the future - better to be someone they can trust rather than “just another sales guy”

What’s the best thing about working at Sentra?

Everyday is exciting and every week we learn something new. Whether that is the announcement of a new customer trusting in us, a new capability that makes our platform more robust, or a validation of the space from the people we meet with. It’s the kind of environment that makes you excited to log in in the morning and see what the day will bring. 

Can you tell me something surprising you discovered while working at Sentra?

I’m surprised how much I missed traveling! 

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose and why?

I’m in a never-ending war with myself over whether or not I would pick the mountains or a beach somewhere. I’d like to find a tropical island that has both. If you have any recommendations I’m all ears

What's on your professional 'bucket list' that you'd like to accomplish in the next 5-10 years?

My top bucket list item is to be part of an IPO at some point in the future
